Once again, The Roadshow is partnering with Compassion International giving those who attend a unique opportunity to change the world.  This year Compassion is starting a new program called the Child Survival Program.  This program aims to help pregnant mothers and young children until they reach the age of 5 when they are old enough to enter in to the traditional sponsorship program.

“Nearly 25,000 children under age 5 die every day, mostly from preventable diseases.”  To prevent these diseases pregnant mothers and infants are provided with prenatal care, access to assisted births, health screening, nutritious food and supplements, and the loving embrace of a Christ-centered church.

So how much does this cost?  A mere $20 a month.  For $20 a month you will literal change the lives of a mother and her child.  As well this is going to change your life.  Providing for the well-being of another life changes you in a way that you must experience, I really can’t tell you.  So here is my recommendation, if you can afford the $20 a month, do it.  Partner with Compassion and change a life, you will not be disappointed.

West Coast Choppers

Yesterday The Roadshow was in Long Beach, CA.  Also in Long Beach, CA: West Coast Choppers.  With these to things being so close together, some of the guys from MercyMe did what any sensible scooter gang would, they went to see the shop for West Coast Choppers*.  The shop had 6 choppers on display making the guys from MercyMe like a bunch of kids in a candy shop.  After spending about 30 minutes staring at the bikes, dreaming, and making plans, MercyMe hopped on their scooters in search of the Spruce Goose, an old Howard Hughes plane that had been moved to Oregon 18 years ago.  I’m not sure how that key piece of information got by us.

*If your not familiar with West Coast Choppers, the company builds custom choppers and is owned by Jesse James who, at least in my mind, is most famous for hosting the television show Monster Garage.

After being on The Roadshow for several weeks now, a lot of really cool things start to look mundane.  We see “behind the scenes” everyday so they are no longer special to us.  So today we grabbed a runner and had her document her experience through twitter, which provided us with a fresh pair of eyes.  Being the sharing people that we are, we thought we would post her experience here.  Thanks @lulafine for the help!

We’re Back

Things around here have been pretty quite for the last 5 days, I can’t imagine this is new information.  The Roadshow took a short break to join in the Easter Celebration and spend that time with friends and family.  Hopefully you guys had a wonderful Easter, I know we did.

Yesterday we said our good-byes to friends and family and met back up with our Roadshow family.  Tonight we are kicking things off, again, at The Long Beach Arena and we are looking forward to some Rock and Worship this evening.  Whose with us?

The $10 Ticket

I don’t think I have heard anybody complain about the $10 ticket price, at least nobody should be complaining about the $10 ticket price.  There are not many concerts featuring a line up like The Roadshow at a cost as low as The Roadshow.  It is such a rare event that it has even caught the attention of FOX News.

The appreciative audience is part of what MercyMe frontman Bart Millard says he enjoys about the shows. “It’s not about filling up the building, but who’s in the building,” he explained during a recent phone interview. “The audience reacts to every band, and there’s a competitive aspect as musicians with the other acts, with us feeding off each other … I wake up every morning ready to play, and when the tour was over last year I was ready for this year.”

If you are interested you can read the rest of the article by Dan Gibson on the FOXNews website.
