A Different Kind Of Roadshow

As mentioned early, The Roadshow was a little bit different tonight.  We said good-bye to Addison Road and welcomed Sidewalk Prophets.  Jeremy Camp was at a previous engagement and was replaced by Flyleaf for the evening.

Sidewalk Prophets were a great addition to tonight’s show.  Closing their set with an a capella Amazing Grace, they are going to fit right in with The Roadshow.  Their set tonight helped create an atmosphere of worship and was a great segue into Tenth Avenue North.

To be honest, I was not sure what to expect from Flyleaf.  I knew they were going to be amazing, but I was not sure how they were going to fit in with The Roadshow.  Now that the show is over, I know they were a great fit.  They took the stage after Hawk Nelson and carried the energy through their entire set.  In keeping with The Roadshow tradition, they had a powerful message of the changing power of Christ and were not ashamed to profess Him from the stage.  We were privileged to have Flyleaf out tonight, and hope to see them again soon.

My husband and I are youth ministers at a church in oklahoma and we attended your show tonight. We were so excited to come to the concert. Some of our youth had never had the pleasure of seeing you live. Which is unbelievable. We love your music and try to come and see you anytime you are close to OK. We enjoyed the opening acts and were surprised at how much we enjoyed them. That was until Flyleaf took the stage. I have heard some of their songs on the radio, but we were very disappointed in their act. Not only could you not understand what they were saying, but some of their appearances were frightening to the young children we had with us. We had to take them out of the arena, I personally thought that was sad. I took my youth group out until their act was over. I hope that their message was that of a Godly and Positive one, but from what I gathered from the screaming it was dark and quite unsettling. I am sad to have to write this blog, but I really want you to know how I felt as a Mom to a young scared girl in the audience and the responsible party for other peoples children. I thoroughly missed Jeremy Camp, I have seen his show before and He like Mercy Me projects God so wonderfully, I would have loved for my daughter and my youth group to have gotten to see that show. Thank You for coming to OKC and I hope you will return. God Bless You All

My family and I attended the show in Oklahoma City last night and we enjoyed it. As Crystal stated in a earlier post, we were disapointed that Jermey Camp was not at the show. That was one of the main reasons for wanting to attend. The show was great! All acts were awsome. But I want to comment on Flyleaf. I’m metal head at heart and loved Flyleaf. I can honestly say I could not understand anything that was being sung, but I did not know there songs. I think that most of the youth that was there enjoyed them also. I feel that they got way more appluse at the end of their songs than any of the other bands. As to the type of message that Flyleaf had. I feel that Lacey Mosley had a great message for the youth, that no matter how insignificant you think you life is, God loves you!!!.
As Bart Millard said Flyleaf can minister to people they could never reach and I think that was an awsome statement.

    Thanks Jason

Guys you blew the roof off the Oklahoma City Ford Center!!! I drove all the way from Southwest Oklahoma (Hobart) to make it to see Tenth Avenue North I loved it but I wish they had more time on stage!! I was sad though when Addison Road wasn’t there I was like drats and I really wanted to hear their music, but I will say eventhough Lacey had a positive message from Flyleaf they definitely weren’t a Christian Rock group and I was quite surprised with the amount of cheering that came. I really only like one song from Flyleaf and that’s called All Around Me the rest just no but a good performance besides the fact. MercyMe was amazing just like always! Hawk Nelson though by far had the best performance of the night and of course interacted with the audience the best I thought he was fun and his songs were Punky and I liked that. You guys definitely need to come back next year with Hawk Nelson, Tenth Avenue North, Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, Addison Road, and maybe one other Big Band maybe some one like Three Days Grace because Adam Gontier would blow the roof off twice maybe Thrice lol Anyways I want you guys to know it was amazing and that was my very first concert I had ever been to! I will definitely be coming back next year with more people too!!

  6. What a great message. I loved every one of the groups last night. I’m glad Sidewalk Prophets was able to fill in. They did a great job. It was a great start to a great show. I really like the message Flyleaf had. Every group sounded just like their CD’s do. I was very impressed. I think there was something for everyone.

It was a wonderful show. I enjoyed hearing all of the bands. I was especially blessed by the Sidwalk Prophets music and spirit. Based on their performance it did not show that they were the new band on the block.

  9. Flyleaf was AMAZING last night! No denying they were different, but as Bart said it so beautifully, they were able to reach people in ways that none of the other bands could, and that’s what it’s all about…reaching people :) And Lacey had some awesome words of wisdom for the audience as well. Loved it!

Great show last night. Especially loved the Sidewalk Prophets. They had wonderful music and a great spirit. Their music provided the perfect opening for the evening.

I am glad to see that I was not the only one disappointed that Flyleaf was the replacement for Jeremy Camp. I had never seen any of the bands last night in concert, but had seen Jeremy Camp and knew the 2 hour drive one way would be worth it. My children loved 10th Avenue North, Sidewalk Prophets, and Hawk Nelson, but after a few minutes of Flyleaf, were ready to leave. Thank you for providing earplugs for such a reasonable price. Without them, we would have missed MercyMe. I was disappointed that there was nothing on this website to let us know that Jeremy Camp wasn’t going to be there and that Flyleaf was. Not only the loud inaudible music was troubling, but the overall presence on stage. I think when you are in the audiance and you see so many people standing and worshipping and singing along with Hawk Nelson, and 10th Avenue North, and realize that the number of people standing and worshipping(?) dwindled the longer Flyleaf was on stage says a lot by itself. It is true that she did have a good message when she was speaking, but other than that, I don’t know that anyone could understand what she was singing, if they could get past the stressed and taught look that all of the band members had. It was a little scarry to me, and I’ve been to all kinds of concerts. I just didn’t think that this was the right place for this type of band… I’m sure anyone wanting to see Flyleaf enjoyed it, but it was a big turn off to my family, and from what I could hear, to most of the people around us. True, the young metal head/mosh pit fans may have been screaming louder at the end of her songs, but the number of people actually applauding, hands raised, praising God, was nothing compared to that of the other groups that performed.

I attended the OKC show and what an amazing night. I was
sad when I learned Addison Road would not be perfoming (with
good reason), but blessed to be introduced to Sidewalk
Prophets. I thouroughly enjoyed Tenth Avenue North and was very moved by their music. I have to admit, I was least
familiar with Hawk Nelson, and had difficulty understanding
the lyrics being unfamiliar with their songs – great energy
though! I am a Flyleaf fan and was looking forward to their
show. I can understand some of the comments left by others
regarding their type of music, but I encourage you to give their CD a listen – during the show it was difficult to understand the lyrics (that seems to happen a lot with female singers at the Ford Center in my experience), and their appearence and stage act are definately different than the other groups, but they truly have a great message and do have the opportunity to reach those who may not be open and willing to receive the message in a more ‘traditional’ way. Mercy Me – what can I say – awesome! It was such a blessing to end this wonderful night of worship with your music and message; to see young and old alike moved and inspired and hopefully leaving with a renewed energy to share the Word. Thank you for bringing this tour to our city.

  14. Thank you so much for doing this type of tour where so many young lives, as well as others, can be changed! And thank you for coming to Bossier City, LA. You guys were awesome because you allowed God to show His Awesomeness in praise and worship. There were times in worship, with the body of Christ that large,God’s presence was so heavy that I felt as though I could be lifted up into heaven! God Bless!!!
