Today for our crew spotlight we are going to give you a little insight into the world of video. Really we should give these guys a week all to themselves because they are the reason we get such amazing video streamed to you guys every night. So you should all comment and tell them what an amazing job they are doing. If you don’t know how amazing they are because you don’t watch the live streaming, well then you should.
The video crew has a pretty long set-up. In all, it takes them about 5 hours to set everything up from start to finish. They do get some breaks as they have to wait until certain things are set before they can move on to the next thing. Tear down after the show takes about 2 hours. So, doing some math here, in all they are working for about 7 hours and that does not include actually running the video during the show.
Now a lot of you have been asking about the cameras and here’s a quick run down. They’ve got five cameras: three robotic, one front of house, and one guy manning a camera at stage right. Once the cameras are set up they they still have to focus them and check white balance. Technical stuff that only super smart video people understand. Trust me, I’ve tried.
Second they are responsible for setting up all of the LEDs on stage. (Those massive towers that display words, logos, and other things like that). Each towers weighs around 400 pounds. Once they get those up on stage they also have to reprogram them every night to make sure they work right.
Third, they set up the machines that actually control all of the cameras and LEDs. This also controls what all of you guys are seeing at home. This awesome crew consists of four people. One to control the front of house camera (Tim), one to control the camera at stage right (Daniel), one to control the three robotic cameras (Jeff), and one to act as the director (Ryan).
Running the video at The Roadshow is pretty complicated and takes a crew of professionals to pull it off as well as they do. So, like I said give some thanks for all of the hard work they put in. A big thanks to Ryan, Jeff, Tim and Daniel for amazing video night after night.

Thanks for the insight. I’ve really enjoyed watching the results of these guys works on the stream. I’ve been telling everyone I know to tune in.
You guys are doing an AWESOME, AWESOME job! I think the quality of the live streaming as been great! I’ve been amazed!
If you haven’t watched online, you really should! You’ll be blessed and will feel the Spirit moving!
A big mahalo to those who make this possible!
You guys absolutely rock it every night! It didn’t matter how many times I watched last fall or so far this tour, I never get tired or bored. Just know that, even though you don’t always hear how much we love it online, we know it every night. We pass it on to others. New peeps come in every night. It gets kind of crowded in that tiny chat space, but we manage! Thanks for all you guys do. All the hours, the time away from your families, and the humbleness by which you work.
the phoenix concert was great!! I came home and watched some more on the stream. Awesome concert and light show. Can’t wait till you come back next year!!
Awesome job!!!! We love the video work/ and live streaming.
An Amazing heartfelt thanks to Ryan, Jeff, Tim and Daniel! Every night is awesome and we appreciate your hard work. Thanks for making this available to all of out here. We have become a community of our own in large part to your hard work!
My son is Mike Donehey of Tenth Ave North and I have to let all the A/V folks know how awesome this has been to be able to “be there” each night watching the RAWR live! The live chat has been a neat bonus as virtual fans unite and share our common joy. I am amazed that the record labels allow this to happen and from what I can tell it has not negatively impacted the attendance and may well have served to provide the “appetizer” to convince folks to attend future events as they witness the quality of the show online. I was a documentary film producer/director for years and know the million details and hours it takes to make something like this happen so my heartlfelt thanks to the tech crew for the many hours poured into provide those of us at home with this great feature! Perhaps this will pave the path for others to do likewise.
Just noticed on the main web site page it shows the Vegas and Fresno concerts both on March 28…now that would be really amazing!
Thank you for all your tireless work! Keep up the good work spreading the gospel!!
Thank you so much for all you are doing to make it possible for all of us to see the concert online. The Roadshow is not coming to a city near me and this is the only way I will be able to see the show. I watched all last fall and have been watching every night of the Roadshow so far. The video has been amazing and I love all the different cameras. They allow us to see more of Robby and Jim (MercyMe) because we usually don’t see much of them behind their instruments. I cannot thank you enough for all you are doing.
Thanks so much for all your efforts. It’s been fantastic to watch the show at home!!!
Just wanted to say Thank you for this Concert… I was already planning to attend tomorrow night in Fresno…and well I just read that this is to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes… this is so awesome and I am so glad to know this.. my 7 yr old dtr Victoria was diagnosed 1 yr ago to this day with type 1…this brought tears to my eyes you don’t hear about many things put together to help this cause.. it truly is life changing.. as a parent you wish you could change this fate… I just want to say thank you so much!!!!
Strong work you guys. I’m sure it can get tiring at times but know that you are part of something huge. I can assure you that the experience you help to create will be a lasting memory in the hearts of your brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks for serving!
