Cool Things Are Afoot At Memorial Coliseum

pigsSome pretty cool things happened tonight:

1. The show sold out. We were asking people to scoot over and make room for more people. Jeremy Camp has a back drop that had to be taken down, because people had to sit behind the stage to even get in. The sad part about this is that about 1,000 people had to be turned away. (I hope those people know about watching The Roadshow live online).  Portland showed up tonight for The Roadshow in masses.

2. Not only did Portland show up in masses, they showed with high amounts of energy. The entire night the crowd was singing their hearts out and dancing in the aisles. It was awesome. There was more energy at this show then any of the other shows. Let that be a challenge for the rest of the dates.

3. We had a mechanical bull, bounce house, miniature golf course, and a petting zoo here today. I am not sure why, but does that really matter? Yeah that picture up there is from backstage. Weird and awesome all at the same time. I am hoping that somebody got footage of the mechanical bull with Bart’s slow motion camera. Unfortunately, I was too busy rocking Blog Nation to take part in the fun.

4. We had an artist by the name of Robbi Firestone painting a portrait today.  Brody and I had the opportunity to talk to her about art and Blog Nation.  It was a great conversation that I am not going to even try and reproduce.  Sorry.

5.  Blog Nation rocked today.  You guys were out in force.  The blog was getting tons of traffic, there were a large group watching the live feed, and that chat room was almost to much to keep up with.  So a big thanks to you guys for making tonight a big night for Blog Nation.

I was in the Portland crowd last night.

It is a beautiful thing to watch 11,000 kids and young adults and their sponsors *(old people like me)* worshiping together.

I am so grateful Bart that you and the rest of you listened to the Lord and not all the naysayers!!

All things are possible with the Lord.

Blessings to you and all the bands for the rest of the show!

I have to be honest, I considered the donor pass, but it was better to bring young friends from my church. There were 10 of us having fun and building relationships from my
    church.

    Thanks again.

    Jamie

  2. Hello, my name is Brenda and I live in Seal Rock on the beautiful Oregon Coast and I attend Central Coast Assembly of God in Newport, Oregon.

I had the incredible blessing of attending The Rock and Worship Road Show in Portland last night with our youth group, a total of 16 people including three chaperones.

I just want to encourage all of you to find out when they will be in your neighborhood. The price of the ticket is only $10 and the quality of the performers and their message is priceless.

Hesitantly revealing my age, it’s been since the early 80’s that I’ve paid such a low fee for a live concert. However, never in all of my years have I received the quality of a show presented by such incredible young people so eager to share their love of the Lord.

You could truly feel God in that arena and I was honored to be able to share it with the youth of our church.

Seeing as I’ve admitted I’m aged, I will admit I’m really sleepy. Our six hour round trip drive landed me home at 1:30 AM and my workday began this morning at 7 AM. Please pray that my eyes stay open for the next eight hours!

Thank you and God Bless the Rock and Worship Road Show team, all of them, the entire event was worth so, so much!

  3. PS If the crew is driving South to California . . please make a detour to the coast and enjoy some wonderful food here in Newport, Oregon. Tons of wonderful places to eat and driving the Oregon Coast to California will only prove how very much God loves us.

  4. A K-LOVE listener came to the booth named Craig (Peters, IIRC?), there with 2 of his 4 kids. His wife drove the other 2 home, and here’s why: they had just paid and gotten in when the doors closed due to the sellout… but had met 2 people in line from the Idaho border (quite a long drive). So these 2 kids asked security if they could give up THEIR OWN 2 seats to their 2 new friends, and the switch was permitted. How cool is that? And it was a great show and a privilege to work with you.

Most incredible show ever. I went there to worship and hear some great music, and I was not disappointed. To see the look of joy on every performers face when they realized that the show sold out, was pure joy of God’s love. Being in a place to hear others say I love God, Jesus, the Heavenly father -was inspiring. But to truly see it on others faces was monumental. Thanks to all the bands for sharing your gifts and your faith. This experience will be with me for days to come. My favorite part – the Love of God surrounding the Colliseum – the many different ages of people there – I’m sure there was a bright light shining from the outside as well. May God continue to bless all that are part of the Rock and worship Roadshow. We rocked in Portland tonight. Thank you.

You guys had a great show last night! I had no idea the Memorial Coliseum was so tiny! lol! Can’t wait for the next time you reach Portland, and piece of advise, next time, get the Rose Garden!

  7. Ken

We had an awesome time..! Everyone really rock the place.!! Some real powerful time in worship as well. Thanks to everyone who are making these shows possible. The best $10 bucks I’ve spent in years.. >:-)

I was at the Portland concert last night & it was an Amazing event! Seeing all the different youth groups together, children in the most impressionable ages of their lifes. I would have loved to have heard promotions on the radio to encourage the youth groups to be prepared to support & as a group be a sponser of a child. I think this would be a great time to be united to help others!
Thank you for All you do,
    Karen

I watched online and it was amazing!

  10. Mona

Last night was AWESOME. To watch my 15 year old daughter w(who had managed to get a really great seat on the floor.. I was up in the stands…) Dance her heart out, worshipping God… there are just not words for it. For her to see that there are bands like Hawk Nelson who play music that she can relate to. AWESOME!!!!

  11. Last night’s show was absolutely amazing!!!!

God allowed my friend and I to be 2 of the first people into the coliseum and we had 2nd row seats right in the middle of the stage!!

The show was unbelievable! It was so cool to be a part of the 11,000 screaming, dancing and singing fans!

This was definately a memory that I will never forget and will always be sharing with other people!!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped this all come together and for the amazing artists to spend their time and talents with us for such an amazingly small price!!

  12. Scott

What a moving concert. It was a massive worship service. Portland loves its Christian music. The artists were there to lead worship, not show themselves off. We went for our kids, but I was the one blessed beyond words. Thank you bands and most of all, thank you God for these people who thrive on spreading the message of Jesus.

  13. What an incredible night! If you have reservations about waiting outside for tickets, don’t let that stop you…it’s sooo worth the wait! Thank you to each and every band member and crew for showing us your love for God and for encouraging us to follow God no matter the cost! Most of all thank you for allowing us to worship with you, giving praise to God who is so deserving! My friend and I brought our 9 and 10 year old sons…thank you for giving us the opportunity to bring them to a place where they can be encouraged to live for Jesus in a fun and exciting way! Of course the performance was sold out you guys are awesome!

i was at the amazzzing show last night in portland…and i have to say that it was an amazing experience that i’ll hold in my heart an never forget for a lifetime!! im 14 years old, and seeing the older adults there made me think an hope that someday i will be that same age doing the same thing- wordhiping god. this show touched my heart in ways that cannot be described in words. i felt jesus there with all of us 11,000 people singing an dancing an praising. i could tell the bands really cared. specially mercy me. Bart gave wonderful speeches that will always be with me.
i had no idea that only ten bucks can do so much.

  15. Myranda

It is Amazing to know that portland filled up the stadium. I love how christian music puts God first and brings together so many different people!!!! I loved the concert and can’t wait to see it become FREEEEEE! There were five major things I loved about the concert. 1. Putting an emphasis on Jesus Christ and rather than getting an x number of people to “accept Jesus” for one moment and then not helping them with their relationship with Christ. 2. Jeremy Camp. What an awesome guy. This is one dude who really loves Jesus. Whenever he talks I feel God speaking to my heart. 3. the cheap price and eventual free price. and 4. Portland rocked out like a choir from heaven. (Bart Millard of MercyMe just let the crowd take over for a couple lines of worship songs!!!) 4. and oh yeah….. I can’t not forget about HAWK NELSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!Rock’n'Roll oh yeah. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!!!! praying for you- Myranda

From a mother of five beautiful children (15, 13, 11, 9, 7), single income family, on a tight budget I just wanted to say, “Thank you!” Because of the price of the tickets I was able to bring my two oldest, boys. (The girls stayed home with Daddy.) Something we normally wouldn’t be able to do. You’d think for $10.00 you wouldn’t get much but WOW!!!!!! This was the best concert that I’ve ever been to, ever! Five awesome bands with many talented musicians, the singing, the dancing, the lights, the messages from the performers, the waving cell phones, the giving, the thousands of people just loving God and being alive! Three hours or so to put everything aside and just praise Him in song! This was an experience the boys and I will never forget.

Thank you, Thank you, God bless all involved, keep praising God and keep up the good work!

    Blessings,
    Beth

Words are hard to express. All I can really say is, there is never a better feeling to me than seeing my child enjoy the same music I do, worship God and have fun doing it! And with quality bands such as ALL the bands that played at the Rock And Worship in Portland, OR. it was thrilling to see and be a part of! I will always think with God as the center of attention, the concerts will just continue to get better, because with God as the focus, everyone can know that they are an important part of this place. And the music is more deeply felt and enjoyed. Thank You to Mercy Me for putting on a great show and ALL THE BANDS THERE for such great dancing music and worship music! And thank you for keeping Christ the center of it all!
    Love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tears of joy are streaming down my face as I type this to say how great this night you brought here to Portland for us was! I just read all these comments above that people have posted and I truly do stand in awe of our Amazing and Magnificent God. I too am grateful that Bart and the others did not listen to those that said it could not be done and instead listened to God’s whispers that, “Yes, it can!” be done.

I don’t think I have ever spent only $10 for a concert…and I’ve been to about a hundred. It really was the best $10 I have ever spent and by far the best concert I have EVER been to.

We brought a group of teens from our youth group to it…and they are still talking about how amazing it was! Bart, you are right…you guys left and they are talking to us. Thank you all for your amazing love for God and for sharing His messages with us in such a rockn’ format.

    God is indeed good!

Jeremy…my youth friend met you and shook hands and told you that I loved you and you apparently told her you loved me too. Thank you :-D You made this gal happy for the night. LOL Truth be told, I love all of you guys and gal though. May God keep you all safe and bring you the greatest peace and happiness.

    All my love in Christ,
    Tessa Dailey

I attended the Rock & Worship Portland show and I have to say it was probably one of the best and most heartfelt times of my life!

A dear friend invited me to the show with a group of friends at first. The night before, everyone had cancelled on her and though I was still hesitant to attend, something pulled me to go and I knew going with her, no matter what, we’d have a fun time. When we got there, upon eye-spying the massive crowd I was in awe of the numbers of people and even more hesitant about standing in an endless line and sea of people. But I have to say that my faith in Portlanders was restored for it was the most positive, not to mention organized and fast moving, line I’ve ever been in!

I’ve been to quite a few concerts, but the positive energy and uplifting message of this one falls into a whole other realm! Despite my very personal and loving relationship with God, I fear I’m not an avid church goer and was a little anxious that I might feel awkward attending, but I quickly discovered that was not the case. From the beautiful music, to the awesome crowd interaction(!!!), to the wonderful talk Bart had with the crowd, to the final close of the whole crowd singing . . . I was AMAZED! Thank you for this wonderful experience and beautiful opportunity. I will never forget it!

Thank you for keeping the price at such a low cost too, for without such, my friend and I may not have attended.

And thank you Portland for being a sold out show and showing the love and spirit we have to the world and to God!
